Announcement: A New Endeavor
My fledgling publication, Classically Cultured, is live. I'd love for you to join me.
For the past year, I’ve had the pleasure of adding “Arts & Culture” writer to my job description, along with my title of professional musician. I’ve covered music of all genres and generations for publications like The Epoch Times and Zing Media, and have immersed myself in local culture, from symphony performances to theatrical productions.
This professional renaissance has caused a personal renaissance, and has reawakened why I chose the arts world as my business home in the first place.
From an early age, thanks to the direction of my parents, I became beautifully lost in a world full of classical literature, music, poetry, and art. Getting lost in the art of both ancient works and modern classics helped me find my way in life. And this way is grounded in the principles, morality, and philosophy I discovered and learned about in all of those artistic creations.
Since embarking on my journey as an arts and culture writer, hours upon hours of research and a vast amount of communication with fellow creatives and consumers alike has revealed something significant to me.
Amid a sea of new-age, subjectivist, confusing, unclear art, morality, and entertainment, people are craving the exact opposite- but they don’t know where to go.
Though it appears marginal, individuals are searching for a return to classical philosophy, art, and civilization, because in the core of their being they know this way of life and these works of art are what built society. And while so many societal mechanisms are breaking down, there are many people out there who are still interested in building.
Learning classical philosophy and developing an appreciation for classical works of art teaches us how to build ourselves, and thus communities built on eudaimonia, the ancient Greek term for “human flourishing.”
While there are any number of publications you can turn to that spell destruction for the future, I want to be a part of the solution. As a creator, I want to be a part of creation. While many are obsessed with the destruction of society, I want to cultivate a place people can go to that serves as a roadmap on how to build society back up again, and that starts with you.
Only a society built on courageous, wise, judicious individuals can flourish.
The great works, from ancient Greece to modern American classics, inspire us to stand by our convictions, to search for truth, and to be just, especially when injustice is all around us.
My brand new publication, Classically Cultured, is a fledgling one. But I plan on growing it quickly, to serve as that roadmap towards eudaimonia. I will of course still be writing at Freedom Journal, but Classically Cultured brings everything full circle, and focuses on a wide range of classical topics, from philosophy and history to poetry and culture, geared towards consumers of art and lovers of wisdom. It serves as a beacon of light I believe many are searching for right now. I’m hopeful my new publication can supply a flame where darkness resides.
If you love learning, if you love reading, and if you love cultivating yourself, I’d love for you to check out the content I’ve posted so far at Classically Cultured. I’ve written quite a bit of fresh content and am posting more everyday. I’ve also carried over a few “classics” from Freedom Journal. I plan on making this a multimedia endeavor, from podcast episodes to videos as well, so make sure to visit regularly.
While there, go ahead and subscribe to become a part of a community committed to cultural revival. I’ll make sure you get your own personal renaissance delivered right to your inbox. It will help you stay inspired, hopeful, invigorated, and spiritually nourished.
I hope you’ll join me.
To eudaimonia, always.
