Easy Homemade Vinaigrette Salad Dressing Recipe- Clean Eating
Here is a quick and easy cleaning eating salad dressing recipe that will help you ditch highly processed, sugar-laden bottled salad dressings for good.
Nutrition is an important part of the liberty movement, though at first it doesn’t come to mind. But the reality is bodily autonomy, freedom, and self-reliance stem from a strong, healthy body working in unison with a strong, healthy mind.
To foster a happy healthy body, eating a nutrient-dense, whole foods diet is important.
One of the greatest offenders of hidden toxins and chemicals is bottled salad dressing. Some of the most popular brands you pick up from the aisles of your local grocery story contain highly processed chemicals, hidden sugars, and other ingredients that can contribute to insulin spikes, weight gain, and a host of other problems.
To remedy this, I make my own salad dressings using whole foods ingredients from my kitchen.
Homemade salad dressings are easy to whip up, last for weeks, and once you give them a taste there’s no going back to bottled dressings. There is no comparison.
Here’s one of my favorite clean eating dressings, an easy-to-make, homemade vinaigrette dressing using just a few common items from your kitchen pantry:
Easy Homemade Vinaigrette Salad Dressing Recipe- Clean Eating
Ingredients:
*Make sure to have a jar with a lid on hand, because you’ll want to shake up the dressing each time before using it to remix the spices :)
½ Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
3 Tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar
1 Tablespoon Spicy Brown Mustard
1 Tablespoon Honey
½ Teaspoon Minced Garlic (you can drop this to ¼ teaspoon if you like to go lighter on the garlic for recipes)
Salt & Pepper to Taste
Optional: Italian seasonings blend (to taste)
Yield: Between 4 to 5 salads
Total prep time: 10-15 minutes
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a jar and mix well using a fork, whisk, or simply place the cap on the jar and shake well.
The great thing about this recipe is you can adjust the amount of the individual ingredients to suit your preferences.
Common Substitutions:
While the recipe calls for Balsamic Vinegar, other popular vinegars that can be used are Red Wine Vinegar and Apple Cider Vinegar
I love mustard with a bit of spice but if that isn’t your thing feel free to use Dijon mustard or even honey mustard if you have a bit of a sweet tooth.
I love using local honey because it helps with allergies and contains a ton of antioxidants. Try finding an all-natural U.S.A.-made high quality honey if you don’t have a local honey store where you live. It’s worth the price. Many low-priced honey brands are full of extra sugars, are highly processed, and contain minimal antioxidants.
Enjoy!
